Once they found their Rodrock home—the Anthem Reverse in Summerwood— transitioning from the West Coast to Johnson County was easy for Matt and Shari McCants and their three children.
We looked at hundreds of homes throughout our search and kept coming back to Rodrock—there’s an undeniable quality you can sense and see. The Anthem Reverse fulfilled our three priorities—a high-quality, reverse story-and-a-half in the Blue Valley School District.
Christina and Ron Robson chose to build their custom Fred R. Kohlmeyer-designed dream home in the bucolic setting of Cedar Creek, amongst the trees and wildlife — and chose Rodrock to bring their vision to reality. The couple enjoyed the entire process of building a home from scratch and love the resulting openness of their contemporary residence that’s defined by a warm and inviting ambience — and how the large windows bring the outdoors in.
The Rodrock name signifies a lot in this city. We’ve seen homes and neighborhoods built on the Rodrock name and felt we could trust Brian Rodrock with our dream home — we knew he was a man who would stand by his word. We also knew he had to have some spectacular people working with him to make things happen. During the building process, we found this to be true. Each member of the team was nothing short of professional, an expert in their field, personable and genuinely interested in our project.
Tenny and Doyin Idowu were parents-to-be when they bought a home in Summerwood, a decision made easy when they toured the community and got a flavor of its family-friendly personality. It was essential to the couple that their home—and surroundings—provided a joyful ambience for their child.
Moving to Summerwood marked a new beginning for our family, which has grown by one with the birth of our first child. We want our daughter to grow up in a loving environment and know we’ve found it here in a Rodrock community and home.
When Matt and Kelsey Ronan were home shopping, they settled on the welcoming neighborhood vibes of Summerwood. That intangible ultimately sold the young couple on the Rodrock community that boasts more than 50 acres of natural green space.
Although we contemplated building in another community, we kept coming back to the families we met in Summerwood, the kids playing outside, the overall atmosphere. Building our custom Summerlin EX home was a pleasure, in large part because of the Rodrock team’s attention to detail that kept things on track.
Justin and Suzanne Sherron spent a year combing Johnson County, looking at lots of houses, before committing to build. They found their sweet spot with Rodrock Homes, appreciating the company’s dedication to a seamless building process, input from the in-house design team and a focus on building great family-friendly communities.
Location is something you can’t upgrade or change and Summerwood is convenient to our workplaces, close to friends and family. The proximity to top-rated Blue Valley schools, especially Timber Creek Elementary, helped influence our decision. And the sense of community is truly amazing—it’s precisely the type of neighborhood where we want to raise our son.
When Chris Stine—a Blue Valley native— took a new job in Kansas City, he and his wife, Tracey, needed a home fast for their family, including four children under the age of 10. Throughout their journey back to Johnson County, the Stines relied on the Rodrock experts to carry out their final selection and custom finish requests.
We fell in love with their communities, locations and process, even over the internet, and after a whirlwind spring break trip, purchased the Hepton floor plan in Colton. The bonus? It was close to Blue Valley schools like Blue Valley Southwest, Aubry Bend Middle School and Timber Creek Elementary. We couldn’t be more pleased—everything was finished to 100 percent of our liking, including the swimming pool we added.
Katie and Tim Filliman were attracted to Gleason Glen’s off-the-beaten path location in Lenexa, the city park located within the community and easy access to K-7.
We didn’t miss a weekend at the pool last summer, have enjoyed dinners with our neighbors and love walking our dogs around the park. Our floor plan, The Madison, beautifully accommodates our lifestyle—it’s open with a seamless flow and has a formal dining room for entertaining.
After living in Shawnee’s Hills of Forest Creek’s original phase for more than nine years, Marc and Karen Porter sold and built The Sonoma, a reverse-style featuring a main level master suite, with Rodrock.
Rodrock Homes exceeded our expectations. True professionals guided us through the process. Our home represents quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Abby and Sean Ryan knew the design of the Roanoke in Wyngate was the perfect home design to accommodate their three children.
We enjoy not only our home, but the very reasons we chose Wyngate. The fact that our kids can walk to school on a private intra-community path without getting on arterial streets, the nearby BluHawk commercial development, an array of community amenities and, of course, the Roanoke, were all deciding factors.
Keith and Julie Vulgamott were impressed with Wyngate’s welcoming ambience, amenities such as the abundant green space and lush resort-style pool and Rodrock Homes’ attention to detail, craftsmanship, quality homebuilding and flexibility to customize the Larsen EX floor plan.
Rodrock Homes manager Kristi Maurer was very open to conversation about our specific needs and modifications we wanted on our home’s design. Interior designer Shay Edwards was terrific, and the community co-managers were beyond accommodating.
Nestled in the heart of the award-winning Blue Valley School District, Wyngate is adjacent to three schools—which means kids can attend K-12 growing up in one house. The multiple benefits of the community’s location were attractive to Anthony and Jessica Sherman.
Friends of ours live here and we simply fell in love with the beautiful neighborhood. It’s an ideal place to raise a family—open space, lots of young families and children, close to schools. It has everything we wanted, and more.
According to the National Association of Home Builders, buyers have a short list when choosing community: location, lifestyle-enhancing floor plans and neighborhood amenities. Confidence in the builder ranks high, too—something that helped Heath and Kelli Hawk choose Rodrock Homes to create their distinctive residence in the premier Overland Park community of Colton.
We worked closely with one of Rodrock’s interior designers, Kristen Ridler, in choosing selections and finishes. Onsite, Rodrock’s Custom Division head, Tim Suiter, along with project manager Kristi Maurer and assistant project manager Tony Ahrenholtz, were terrific to work with throughout construction—knowledgeable in answering questions and keeping us informed.
The proximity of top-notch schools, Rodrock’s landscaping package and the customization to the floor plan they chose appealed to Chris and Amy Garrelts when they chose Hills of Forest Creek.
It was important to be in the De Soto School District and our home is within a mile of Mill Valley High and walking distance to Clear Creek Elementary. We worked with the Rodrock Homes’ Design Center—a fantastic experience—and a project manager guided us through the entire building process.
Scott and Tara Lippert were drawn to Colton for many reasons, like its location in the Blue Valley School District. and confidence in Rodrock Homes.
We wanted to be in this school district for our two children. The Rodrock Homes team was always receptive to our requests. Everyone we worked with dotted I’s and crossed T’s.
Hills of Forest Creek and the Destin floor plan fit the bill for Angela and Ryan McCord — including the couple’s top requirement—plenty of space to entertain family and friends.
The finishes on the Destin were high quality and well planned. This house is great for parties and gatherings and we also enjoy its overall appearance, including high ceilings and modern finishes.
Michelle and Ted Crews chose Wyngate because of its location, proximity to Blue Valley schools and their home’s overall market value.
We wanted to mesh our life-work balance, an important factor to consider when we decided to sell our home and buy a new one. Transporting kids to activities, being close to our church and good schools and having convenient highway access were significant factors in our decision.
Chris and Billie Schuler love Kansas City’s western suburbs—two of their children attend schools in the acclaimed De Soto School District and they enjoy living away from the city and the convenience to prime shopping, dining and entertainment. They were drawn to the Destin 3.5’s contemporary, open floor plan and the neighborhood.
We were familiar with the Rodrock name and reputation and when we walked into the Destin 3.5 it felt like the perfect place to continue raising our family. There’s a certain charm about the neighborhood—it’s off the beaten path, yet everything we need is nearby—like the De Soto School District.
Overland Park residents Naidu and Sahana Vattigunta longed to live in a residential community exactly like Rodrock Homes’ Colton.
Located in the heart of the Blue Valley School District with an easy work commute, the community fulfills our checklist’s top priorities. The Lancaster 4.5 meets our requirements, including a large living room, open kitchen with a generous island and a bedroom-office and a powder room on the main level.
Katie and Ryan Poles chose the Lancaster 4.5 floor plan for its open flow and a main level flex room that they converted into a kids’ playroom and extra sleeping area. Rodrock Homes built the five-bedroom home for the couple in south Johnson County’s Wilshire Ridge neighborhood.
Two things we enjoy most about our new home is how open and bright it is and, of course, the location in the highly ranked Blue Valley School District is a win — we can walk to and from school. Our experience with Rodrock was fantastic — not only did we have a team spirit as our house came together, we got everything we wanted, and more, in this solid, well-built home.
